Pillerton Hersey Esoaring

I'm rather late writing this, but we've been having trouble sending the results files by email.
Phil has included a photo of the results sheet in his usual excellent set of photos at http://www.glos-mfc.co.uk/phil/ph13/1.htm , picture 24. Andy's Maxa looks superb, too.

A good time was had by all, I think.
The weather was excellent, as forecast - 50% cloud, modest wind in a good direction and strong lift (and sink).
A relief after the pre-comp discussions, and a pleasant change for this year - there were a number of reddened individuals seeking sun block they'd ceased to pack.

My first comp as CD was made easy by all, and especially Cliff, Marlene, Bob, Pete and Bruce.

We kept to time so well that we finished 7 rounds with time to spare, and had an "all up, last down" comp after the prizegiving. Everyone stayed to take part, and it went well - less lift than for most of the day so we didn't have to wait all night for a result, but enough to separate the field. A good win by Bruce Baker.

It was good to see Neil Stainton again, and he was persuaded to stay to present prizes. Mick Barnett visited earlier - he is recovering well from a back operation, and becoming a force to be reckoned with in model yacht racing.

The farmer, John Lewthwaite, is a long-time modeller with an enviable workshop and his own permanent model flying strip.
He has offered the field again in October, and Cliff will be running an event as I'll probably be in France.

NEWS ITEMS

I went to Woodspring Wings today.  Excellent flying display, superb weather, and a surprising number of trade stands given the recent decline.  Downside was the inescapable over-amplified inane yabber on the tannoy.

There''s an electric fly-in on the 25th August (not 18th as printed on today's programme) - 'free' entry  but £5 parking fee (i.e. £5 entry unless you go on yer bike).
