Pilrtton Hersey Esoaring

Saturday 29th

Pillerton Hersey back on the MAP.
A special thanks to Geoff for organising, with out his initial drive this would not have happened.
Every thing else that Bruce wrote.
A big well done to John Richards, and a big thank you for timing me to one of my better flights and may be instilling some "that's how to do it" into my poor old brain, (Andy has been trying for a long while).
Andy flew his new MAXA, very brave to enter a comp. after only 3 test flights, it will be good when he trims it to perfection.
A big well done to Martyn and Phil for traveling a long way to support this event.
Hope you are OK Marlene after your fall.
Brilliant comp. weather, company and a visit from Mr. Hyperfight Neil, good to see you Neil.
Another big thank you to Phil Hayward for providing excellent photos, yet again, thanks Phil.
Bob .

NEWS ITEMS

I thought you’d like to see my weird and wonderful creation. It’s based on the Flair Taube, but I’ve changed the fuz to try and recreate the early pre-flying days of flying. See attached. The farm where my unit is, is called Gidley Farm...and there are so many Red Kites soaring overhead...I’ve tried to capture their distinctive silhouette in the air by making their wings, gull shaped with a flick up at the tip...I’ve always thought Buzzards where the birds to watch, but Kites.. wow! It’s a long slow build but I am getting there....see what you think.

Cheers

Andy

A bit  of HLG on Minch

I went to Malvern for the afternoon, I had a informal contest with Cliff and lost 3 flights to 1
I had a couple 15 min flight and was pleased to get away from only 20 metres in light lift

Wednesday

That was well worth a trip out this afternoon.

Thanks to all the lift scouts that sussed out when I should launch and catch some great lift. Phil just cannot sit still and wait, he was continually chucking out his Pegace, fetching back up and chucking again, but when the lift came he got up to 1000 feet high.

Bob's BOT like Bird also flew gracefully, a joy to watch.

Friday

I had one good flight on Minch with my Shadow

The wind increased in the afternoon, I tried flying at Selsley but changed to Frocester where we had some strong lift

Tim flew his Middle Phase, Tom a Mini Ellipse and Guy miriJ

Saturday
Anyone who didn't fly on Selsley today, which was everyone except me and Andy, missed a good day.  There was the odd interruption (see below) and the duvets got in the way a bit, but there were some good thermals which meant they didn't hang around too long.  Vis was excellent (also see below) and it was genuine short sleeves weather.  The wind went more westerly later so moved from the tump to the other slope

.Sunday

The flying took place at Frocester, the wind was on Haresfeild
