Malvern SA News

Guys

Well what a day, who would have thought that the weather would be so kind to us for thermal flying this late on in the year.

I am sure that I am not the only one to appreciate the efforts of John  in calling the comps and to Geoff for running them this year. It has
been far from easy given the  weather we have had during this so called summer.

Regarding today's comp, firstly, thanks folks for the usual good banter and p*** taking. Regarding the actual comp, I may be wrong but I think that all slots were flown out in ideal conditions for RES models, this
made for some really excellent man on man flying, congratulations to Geoff for coming out on top.

Malcolm and Cliff, I hope that you took the banter in the manner in which it was given, no one likes to break models and I am sure that you are both gutted. We have all been there but I appreciate that this is no
consolation. Please find the enthusiasm to rebuild and come back fighting.

Once again thanks for your company through the season and trust that I will see some, if not all of you for the winter comps.

Cheers

Mike

The flat field duration local record stands at 1 hour 9 minutes for this year by Sqeela with his Electric Shadow. on Minchinhampton common from 150 metre launch.
My AVA did a longer flight but was flown by 4 people

This is for hand launched, bungee or one short motor run on a flat field without the use of slope lift

Adam holds the HLG record at 14 minutes

The local height record for this year is held by Chris Bishop at 2953 feet attained at GMFC

Newly listed items

Clearing through my garage to make some room I came across a bungee complete with line and parachute, two hand tow winches, one with an extended handle and 100 lbs breaking strain line for those gorilla launches so important back in my active BARCS days.

The thing is these are now surplus to requirements and I would like too offer them to either the SCSA or any deserving soul who can make use of them.

I now live in Stone but still work in Nailsworth Monday to Wednesday, who ever wants them I'm happy for them to collect.

Regards, Paul.
