Slope & soaring

Wednesday

Hi Phil, here are some pictures from Garway hill, flyable in NW winds - it is about 10 miles north of Monmouth and has good views of the Black mountains to the north west. It is not really comparable to Selsley (with takes the same wind direction), it is higher and has a definite slope on the back face which should be avoided. The lift was very good when I was there but a bit bumpy, the landing is on thick ferns that cover the whole area. These pics were taken from my o.d. thermal glider which was the wrong model really for this slope - a heavier glass glider would have been better.

Selsley was good until 3.30PM when the wind went NNE spoiling the lift. Bryan's ASW27 went well

In the evening I joined Gordon and CB at CRCS Aston Down, we were surprised to find only one CRCS member there on a very pleasant evening
The Pitts is great 3D machine capable of doing all the tricks
We rounded off the evening with a visit to the Crown at Frampton Mansell, some excellent beers but missed last orders for food

Photo Gordon's trainer, CB Pitts Python and John's Sid King model, light was poor for photographs

Thursday
Very pleasant in the morning but in the afternoon the wind picked up and went onto the west slope, a little too breezy for us

Friday
Strong lift at Frocester, there are 3 photos of Len's discus at http://www.ebley.plus.com/photo/?M=D  dated 10-Jul

Saturday

Sunday
The CRCS wacky race day, Nick arrived with the barbeque but none of the race equipment arrived. A very sunny day with a westerly breeze, the far runway was used. Only one person was daft enough to try flying under a limbo with metal poles and a rope

SCSA NEWS

Wednesday July 15th 6.30 for 7.00PM electric thermal comp, any model with an electric motor, Zagi, power model. Just for fun no prizes

Electric Thermal Comp.  200watts/kg.

This is to be a fun comp and any electric model can be used as allowances are made for power to weight ratio, models will be weighed and motor power measured.

Rules based on a 30sec motor run for a model weighing 1Kg and a motor power of 200watts, models will be weighed and motor power measured and run time will then be calculated (Kg x 1000/Watts x 6 ) for example a model weighing 2Kg & with only a motor power of 250watt would have 48sec motor run.

A 10 minute slot time will start after motor off there will be a 50 point bonus for landing within the landing box & 25 points for a model partly in the box, no bonus applicable for an overfly of the 10 minutes

The thermal comp against Malvern SA will be July 26th at Fish Meadow

August 23rd Sunday  club thermal competition 9.30 for 10.00AM start

Hi I'm looking for a trade for this aircraft (hanger 9 piper cub) with a 66" wingspan and sc46 engine.
I actually bought the aircraft from this site from a chap who assured me it had only been flown once and has a new sc46 engine it also has 4 acoms as12 ic servos but will need an rx.
It looks it in brilliant condition and starts easily it will need the wing struts fitting though i think which will need to be obtained, the only reason im looking to trade it out is im a newbie to ic aircraft so im going to concentrate on the other plane i have to learn on as this is to nice to be thrashed by a newbie to fixed wing flying such as myself.
Would like something electric and more suited to a new flyer such as a high wing  trainer, powered glider etc.
If your interested i can be contacted on.
07773999831 or jayrttn@yahoo.co.uk
thanks for looking
