Height limiter for club ALES contests
This unit records the height so you can not cheat
From RC forum
The HK ALES unit IS
excellent!
Jim
If you read the thread you will find that the stories
you refer to are unfounded.
That unit has been in our club since the story, it works
every weekend at our club field still. The fella that
claimed it crashed his model
Later found that the problem was in his ESCs BEC plug, a
cold wire crimp (after he switched to
a different brand ALES switch)
I provided facts that no brand ALES switch can cause a
motor start. Only a signal from the Tx can do that.
The HK switch is one of the best values out there, it
offers altitude and time setting flexibility, anti-zoom,
it's programmer doubles as a battery checker and makes
setting changes a snap without removing it from the
model.
Motor starts are controlled by the ESC - liability has
forced protection uniformity of systems ( the 3 laws of
robotics).
ALES switches are always ON they can't be more on than
on. They do cause an interrupt in the signal with
triggers the ESCs safety to disable the motor.
One more time they are always ON and have nothing in
them to create a command signal.
If the CD says set your ALES switch to 123m - you can.
Or 23 seconds.... Unlike the Cam which offers three
choices.
If the guys call for an impromptu F5j contest you can
choose which alt penalty to fly with. Not just 100,150
or 200.
So the rumors of the HKs problem have been greatly
exaggerated as proven by facts.

New MSA height Record 703 metres above launch height
2000plus.jpg
There were 8 of us on Tuesday flying at Fish Meadow, the
lift was very strong with just a light breeze
Flying Diary
Monday was a great day, loads of lift, very little wind and clouds like the start of the Simpsons
I finally managed to fly for an hour and got some
height,
I got to 703 metres 2306 feet Ade holds the record at 2472
feet, my glider showed up well against a white cloud but
started disappearing during the decent
