Flap linkage

Flaps linkages  are very hard to get right: the the drawing shows how to configure for zero servo load at full deployment.
Programmable servos help as  they can be set for more movement

The flat field duration local record stands at 1 hour 9 minutes for this year by Sqeela with his Electric Shadow. on Minchinhampton common from 150 metre launch.
My AVA did a longer flight but was flown by 4 people

This is for hand launched, bungee or one short motor run on a flat field without the use of slope lift

Adam holds the HLG record at 14 minutes

The local height record for this year is held by Chris Bishop at 2953 feet attained at GMFC

Slope Flying & flat field
Monday

Minchinhampton was hard work, below on of my flights, I was trying to stretch the flight out to ten minutes but failed
I got 9 climbs to 150 metres from a 4 cell 2.6 amp lipo

Motor run was about 3 minutes, which is 20C average current about 50amps

Haresfield: a strong breeze very smooth
Saturday
A pleasant afternoon at Frocester, a cloudless sky with a gentle breeze

I flew on Minchinhampton, there was lift but it was scarce

The model is fitted with an RCelectronics anti zoom height limiter and cut the motor at 140 metres allowing it to reach 150 metres the setting on the device

Sunday

It was a very pleasant morning on Frocester.  The wind was very light, between SW and W, with variable lift to match, between nothing and not much, and it actually felt quite warm at times.  The low morning sun was not a problem most of the time, being in the SE, but when I launched my Alula it always seemed to take a trajectory taking it towards the sun.  I'm sure I've still got coloured streaks in my vision.  Sunglasses don't help, they just make the model appear in silhouette so you can't tell which way it's going.  Come back summer (or northerlies)!
