Indoor flying
35 fliers, only three more sessions to go

One newcomer to the dome was Pete Smart who came all the way from Bath bringing a collection of own design miniature scale masterpieces the likes of which people sadly seldom build today. A mixture of radio control models, free flight, electric and rubber powered. All of them flew superbly.

Gloucester MFC
Sunday afternoon, We lit the barbie, more eating than flying

Slope/flat

Monday
A great start to the week, the weather exactly as forecast, warm and sunny with a light westerly, the wind dropping late
 afternoon.
There were plenty of thermals, the crows and buzzards helping to spot the the big ones. Peter flew his charisma, Andy and Christine flew their highlight and zagi, Ade flew his Dragon

Photo my Pegase, very responsive to light lift

Tuesday
A light breeze at Rodborough with plenty of thermal lift

Wednesday,
Rodborough again with the wind a lot stronger and much colder

Thursday

Friday

I've not seen such a turn out for a very long time 12+, I didn't count. Great lift at Selsley and people arriving as I left at 4pm. wall to wall sunshine and blue skies.

Tim Cooper lost his Zagi. It got very high and 'vanished'. We don't know where it landed out, in front or behind the slope. Call me 01452 740270 or (Phil) and I can put Tim in touch when it's found! It's white top and bottom with orange and red stripes.

I am going to put my phone number on ALL my toys.....right now!

Saturday
Rodborough was OK

Sunday
A cold morning at Rodborough, poor lift early but got better late morning.

SCSA News

Dear S.C.S.A. member,

At the A.G.M. we spoke about the SCSA competition against the Malvern Soaring club, which is an all day, open class, thermal soaring competition between 2, four man teams. Each competitor flies against each of the 4 competitors of the opposing team. This makes a total of 16 slots to fly.

There seemed  to be quite a lot of interested members on the A.G.M. night.
Suggestions at the A.G.M. were, "could we have more people in the team?". The answer is "not really" because there is insufficient time in the day. If we had 5 man teams there would be 5x5, ie. 25 slots to fly etc.

However we could run heats throughout the spring and early summer to select the best 4 competitors to enter.

What I want from you is:-
If you are interested in being in the team to fly on 15th August at Fish Meadow in Upton-On-Severn send me a reply. If we get sufficient interest, now that we have got the date set, we will try and organize some eliminator heats to pick the team.

We are holding a Winter Thermal competition on Minchinhampton Common on Sunday 21st March. This is the Sunday following the next Club Meeting. We will use this comp. as an indicator for the interest in thermal competitions and will use the results as one of the heats for the Malvern event.
