Oxford model flying show our annual model show is booked for Sunday 13th September. its a good family show with planes, trains, cars, tanks, boats etc and a very relaxed atmosphere. confirmed are Probuild, rc tronics, global rc, gforce rc, tempest models Wayne and sam from YT international and our local model shop and flyers (oxford panic display team). you will need a B cert or equivalent and insurance to fly but not if you want a static display. we have the field on Saturday so you can practice and also stay the night if you like. email me on oliverd5@aol  or call me on 07718584198 for more info

Free Flight

I briefly attended this today to see what was going on in the free flight world these days.

The answer was: not a lot due to the howling wind being not very user friendly for most of the models which looked very fragile.

Venue was RAF Little Rissington near Bourton on the Water. There were about 80 cars - all potential flyers, no spectators except me.

Anyone foolhardy enough to fly meant spotting the models with bins for at least a mile down wind, getting a compass fix then setting off to find it.

One bit of techno all the flyers have now is a radio tracker fitted to the model which seems very sensible. Could be a good idea for radio gliders when

flying over bracken etc. Apparently Maplin do them.

The close up photo is a CO2 model and the other is an A1 glider.

 Cheers

 Pete

Slope & soaring

Monday
Flown at Frocester today, eck it was turbulent. Then went to Haresfield just as it started raining, didn't bother to hang about.
A tad gusty. Had approximately 30 mins there before the weather closed in yet again. Thanks for the advice though - it was on slope.

Tuesday

 Wednesday

Thursday

Friday
Selsley's West bowl was great. A bit bumpy after launch but when you get out a bit smooth strong lift.

Saturday
Good lift at Frocester, the wind had dropped enough for Graham to fly his balsa wood Zagi. This flew fine and only needed a slight adjustment to the C of G

more photos at http://www.ebley.plus.com/photo/?M=D

Sunday
A gentle start, Peter flew his HLG and his ProdiJ when the wind picked up, only one zagi up a tree

Photo Mick' Weasel a great fun model, small enough to take on holiday

more photos at http://www.ebley.plus.com/photo/?M=D

Haresfield was at it's best this pm 15 mph with strong consistent lift on the ridge and the usual nasty rotor to land in!

We, (Guy, Andy & Christine) tried the small bowl on returning to the cars and it was booming too! Just the three of us on a sunny afternoon. I guess the other slopers were out this morning?

Monday
Haresfield again with strong lift
