SCSA

Club meeting 18th February. Bring what you are building. only two models were shown at the meeting, Geoff's small power plane and Brian's Muliplex glider

SCSA Cross Country Comp

I had hoped we would get more beginners to do this comp, as help was available for novices and the nervous, but we only had 5 entries
A simple course was laid out 3 flag to reach, circle then back out onto the slope, finishing with 10 loops in 1 minute and a spot landing
The wind picked during the morning making it hard to get back on the slope from the middle of the common.
This comp was just hard enough that no one completed the whole of the tasks

scores are in the yellow squares, see spread sheet for spot landing score, made after eating some funny mushrooms and involves reciprocals and squaring

Slope flying

Monday p.m. Andy / Christine / Guy enjoyed reasonable lift. Some rare photos of my MiraJ to prove it, plus one of Andy’s Ash. They are rare because I just don’t seem to be able to fly through between the stone and tump and bank it for the photo shot. I completely forget what A & C were flying, except the Ash photo reminds me!

Thursday p.m. produced a light Westerly and A / C and Guy flew electric in some wonderful lift. Andy flew his Explorer as well and it loved the gentle conditions.

Friday p.m. at Selsley – a gentle Westerly breeze in the sunshine produced excellent lift for my electric Champion and Andy with his Explorer.

Saturday p.m. at Frocester. 8 or 9 mph Graham (old floater) and Guy (MiraJ)  and quiz time….

What’s very fast and blue and yellow? Yes, VERY fast? No, not my MiraJ
What flies close to the ground (in the compression), pings turns and whistles?
Next question: Who flies very fast, pinging and whistling blue and yellow planes?

 Answers: Nyx

And ANDY FREEMAN!! Great to see him back on the slopes out flying us all, as usual. He promises to be a regular again!

Otherwise, the lift was reasonable but the sun was low in your eyes, which I struggle with.
