Its impressive list of technical achievements includes being the first successful large delta wing aircraft, leading directly to Concorde and the Space Shuttle, and delivering performance and agility so close to a jet fighter’s that it was given a fighter-style control column in place of the traditional bomber pilot’s yoke. Today that agility allows XH558 to deliver amazing air displays, which unfortunately must finish this year as her time as a flying aircraft draws to an end.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/123634149@N03/sets/ NewsLast week's bit about FRsky bit confused some people, I will try again, but now I'm confused Frsky frame ratePlease take care that your Frsky receiver is set to the correct frame rate, slow for analogue servos, fast can be used if all servos are digital. analogue servos may get hot and fail if the RX is set to fast frame rate. Turn the transmitter off, connect the battery to the receiver, press the F/S button for 6 seconds and then release. The RED LED will flash fast in HS Mode(fast frame rate ) and slow in FS(slow frame rate) Mode. Repeat this to alternate modes. Fast frame rate may only be used if all servos are digital, the ESC will work OK in both modes. Slow frame rate is OK for most people slow 18 to 22 ms is about 50 per second The only way to check the frame rate is to change it and count the flashes, they are in slow when they are new The latency (delay) will be the same since it is primarily determined by the rate at which the transmitter itself creates the control pulses that are passed on Phil

Web siteDespite the hard work of the Solar Impulse team to repair the batteries which overheated in the record breaking oceanic flight from Nagoya to Hawaii, the solar powered airplane of Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg will stay in Hawaii until early spring 2016. Following the longest and most difficult leg of the round-the-world journey which lasted 5 days and 5 nights (117 hours and 52 minutes), Solar Impulse will undergo maintenance repairs on the batteries due to damages brought about by overheating. During the first ascent on day one of the flight from Nagoya to Hawaii, the battery temperature increased due to a high climb rate and an over insulation of the gondolas. And while the Mission Team was monitoring this very closely during the flight, there was no way to decrease the temperature for the remaining duration as each daily cycle requires an ascent to 28’000 feet and descent for optimal energy management. Overall the airplane performed very well during the flight. The damage to the batteries is not a technical failure or a weakness in the technology but rather an evaluation error in terms of the profile of the mission and the cooling design specifications of the batteries. The temperature of the batteries in a quick ascent / descent in tropical climates was not properly anticipated. Irreversible damage to certain parts of the batteries will require repairs which will take several months. In parallel, the Solar Impulse engineering team will be studying various options for better cooling and heating processes for very long flights.

Great weekend, good company and the'Ladies that do' did us proud. There was such a proliferation {aint that a good word} of superb cakes and pastries, that it is easy to see why Bernie cuts such a fine figure of a man. Well he's not underweight anyway.
