RadioGlide 2013

On Saturday I entered my first F5J contest and did badly, I thought I had done well with my first flight until I found out I had launched to 263 metres, although I flew the slot out the high launch meant a large deduction from my time

The last flight was another disaster, I spotted a Red Kite very low in a strong thermal and tried a low launch, but  failed to find the thermal it was in.

It was great day out, there are some Photos at http://www.glos-mfc.co.uk/phil/radio13/1.htm

100S was run in the next field, we were joined by them in some thermals

I have been trying to find a better way of displaying photos on the blog pages, have a look at   http://www.glos-mfc.co.uk/blog/blog13/april13/apr13.htm and click on any of the first images

I have added this code

"window.resizeTo("1100", "900");
window.moveTo(0, 0);

window.onload=open_full;
window.open(location.href,"IEStyleFullScreen","fullscreen,scrollbars,status=no");"

To the pages,  works OK in Google Chrome and Fire fox, but not so good in IE

The competition y was going to be a Electric Precision Duration event. I however gave everybody who attended the option to fly Precision Duration or All Up Last Down [AULD]. It was agreed that AULD was more fun and everybody had more flying time.

The sun was shining for part of the morning and the winds were light at ground level. As conditions were good the members were asked to change their height limiters to 100 metres. We ran 7 rounds of 10 minute slots. There was only one slot which was not flown for the full 10mins.

Finally, my thanks go to Mike Hurley for keeping the scores during the comp.

Results as follows:

1st Steve Hannon 100
2nd Geoff Carter  90
3rd Phil Hayward  80
4th Mike Grantham  70
5th John Freeman  65
6th Malcolm White  60

Bank holiday Monday

Finally managed to get to a windy slope today. Haresfield had the wind
> straight on this afternoon.
> I suspect I am addicted to wind, I only had three models with me but
> enjoyed them all. The smallest and lightest was the mini-ferret, as I was
> flying it in the 20mph (approx) wind a passerby remarked that I looked
> 'Happy' I suspect I was as 'high' as the model.
> The ST Blaze was a lot of fun too, I think I am getting the hang of
> flaperon landings.
> As there was no one around that might get hurt I chucked the correx Flik
> out as well. I am always surprised at how well it goes in a stiff breeze.
> Later the wind seemed to shift more westerly so headed back. Had a bonus
> fly with the Blaze at the small slope. Has anyone seen how much that slope
> has been opened out. The park ranger/forester is really making a
> difference there.

Events

The Chedworth Club are hosting a scale fly in on Sunday 19th May starting at 10:00am.

It will be the same format as that which we used last October. Each pilot can claim a flying slot where they can fly on their own or invite someone else to fly with them.

We at the Whitesheet club are to hold an F3f event on Sunday 14th July to raise funds for the Whitesheet byway project. Full details of this project can be found on the Slope & dynamic soaring board under that heading.

In order to get as much support for the event as possible we have tried pick a date to avoid a clash with any BMFA league event in the UK, any Whitesheet Scale event or the 2 weekends that many pilots will be on the Lundy Slopefest trip.  There is however a BMFA event in Scotland on this date but after speaking to Martin Newnham this morning we believe the clash will only affect a small number of pilots. The date of Sunday 14th July is therefore the best date to hold our event. However apologies to anyone who may have liked to travel to both events.

The F3f comp will be open to all, experienced / regular f3f comp pilots and also anyone wishing to try F3f for the first time.

Entry fee to the comp will be 5 Pounds but anyone wishing to contribute more than this on the day is most welcome to do so and the extra money will be very much appreciated by the Whitesheet committee members. The extra money will be very gratefully received & will go directly to the fund.

We hope the event will get your support & help us with the Whitesheet byway project.

Interglide 2013

Interglide will take place on the 3rd - 4th of August 2013.  The flying field is located Near Edgcott, about 7 miles east of Bicester, Oxford and not far from our old field at Marsh Gibbon.
