Paper plane comp 2009

Eleven members of the SCSA took part in the annual paper aeroplane competition. The competition was held at the Bear of Rodborough in a room with a large rectangular central table. The table caused a lot of early landing, getting in the way of the glide paths. The rules were that a paper plane was to be built using a complete piece of A4 paper supplied from the same ream. Nothing else allowed on the airframe - but the whole sheet had to included.

We ran man against man taking the best of 3 throws, a point was scored for being in the air the longest. This eliminated 5 competitors quite quickly and left 1 getting a bye into the second round. The second round had 6 competitors again the best 3 going through to the next round. We made this the final and we had the 3 competitors flying together. This time we took the best of 5 attempts to decide the finishing order.

The 3 men in the final were Brian Boucher, Mike Frith and Mike Brinkworth and the finishing positions being :-

1st    Mike Brinkworth
2nd   Mike Frith
3rd   Brian Boucher.

Mike Brinkworth was awarded the Flying Aeroplane trophy for the 2nd year running.
